Coffee at Lowertown

Mornings at Lowertown run on Hyperion coffee, roasted down the road in Ypsilanti, with pastries from Botanical Bakeshop and Beara Bakes. We open at 8am every day at 1031 Broadway, on Ann Arbor's Northside.

Hours: Mon 8am–4pm · Tue–Thu 8am–10pm · Fri–Sat 8am–11pm · Sun 8am–8pm

Espresso and drip

Drip, cold brew, espresso, Americano, macchiato, cortado, cappuccino, latte and mocha. A standard coffee bar, done carefully, with Hyperion beans.

House lattes

Salted Maple, Honey Cinnamon, Blackberry, and the Campfire Latte (honey, maple syrup and gluten-free graham cracker). In the fall there's a Pumpkin Spice Latte. The one people ask about is the Camo Latte: matcha and espresso with vanilla and cocoa.

Matcha

Our matcha latte comes with oat milk by default; add honey or vanilla if you like. Marty's Matcha is matcha and lemonade, still or sparkling. It's a staff favorite.

Tea and everything else

Loose-leaf tea from Tea Haus and Arbor Teas, house iced tea, chai, hot chocolate and steamers. If you're not in a coffee mood, try the espresso lemonade, a mango lassi, or a tropical smoothie.

Pastries

Our pastries come from Botanical Bakeshop and Beara Bakes. We don't have a kitchen, so we leave the baking to people who do it well.

Stay a while

Sun comes through the windows all morning. There are booths along the walls, big tables, and the patio outside, with fire pits when it gets cold. Dogs are welcome outside. Plenty of people treat Lowertown as their office for the day.

Later in the day

Around dinnertime the cocktail list takes over. The espresso martini is the bestseller, made with the same Hyperion espresso.
