Craft Cocktails at Lowertown
Lowertown is a coffee shop until around dinnertime, then the cocktail list takes over. Same room, same people behind the bar, different glassware. We're at 1031 Broadway on Ann Arbor's Northside.
Hours: Mon 8am–4pm · Tue–Thu 8am–10pm · Fri–Sat 8am–11pm · Sun 8am–8pm
The house list
Our featured cocktails change with the seasons. Classic cocktails and straight pours are always available. A few from the current list:
Northside Punch: Two James bourbon, Pierre Ferrand cognac, rum, honey, cinnamon, lemon, mint.
Lowertown Old Fashioned: rye, brandy, amaro, rhubarb, bitters, citrus oil.
Negroni Alameda: gin, Italian and California bitters, vermouth blend, orange.
Pink Skies: gin, elderflower, hibiscus, lime.
Broadway Buck: vodka, vanilla, mango, passionfruit, ginger, ginger beer.
Espresso martinis
The espresso martini is our bestseller, which makes sense for a bar that spends its mornings as a coffee shop. The espresso comes from the same Hyperion beans we pour all day, roasted down the road in Ypsilanti.
R&D Wednesday
Every Wednesday from 4pm to close, one of our bartenders puts a new cocktail on the menu for $10. Try it and fill out the comment card at your table. Based on what you say, the drink stays as is, gets tweaked, or gets scrapped.
Zero-proof, taken seriously
Our non-alcoholic list isn't an afterthought. The Mock Mule uses Lyre's American Whiskey with our house ginger-lime cordial and ginger beer. The Ex-Pat is an N/A aperitif with citrus and bubbly rosé. There's also a London Fog cream soda, house lemonades, hop water, and N/A beer.
Michigan beer, cider and wine
The taps lean Michigan: brewers like Drafting Table, Hear.Say, Bell's, Keweenaw and Wax Wings, plus cider from Starcut and seltzer from Rosey in Hamtramck. Two rotating wines by the glass, and prosecco.
Snacks and food trucks
We don't have a kitchen. We do have a charcuterie plate and chips, and food trucks park outside most evenings. The events calendar shows who's here tonight.
Where to sit
Inside, there are booths along the walls and plenty of windows. Outside, the patio sits under a timber canopy, with fire pits when it gets cold. Dogs are welcome outside.
