Lowertown Bar & Cafe is a coffee shop by day and a cocktail bar by night at 1031 Broadway Street, on Ann Arbor's Northside. Same room, same seats, different drinks depending on the hour.
Mornings mean Hyperion coffee: pour-overs, lattes, cortados, plus pastries from local bakeries. The WiFi is fast and nobody hovers, so people settle in to work or read.
In the evening the espresso machine hands off to the bar: cocktails, Michigan beer, natural wine, and a zero-proof list that gets real attention. The espresso martini is the bestseller, which tracks for a coffee shop that turns into a bar.
The patio runs most of the year. Fire pits in the cold months, food trucks parked outside most evenings, dogs welcome. Bring your own food or eat off whatever truck showed up.
